Project Hridyantra
Research focus:

Research Focus: Project Hridyantra is targeted towards developing an advanced assist device of a human heart, capable of compensating for the loss of performance of a weakened left ventricle. This assist device, abbreviated LVAD, is an electro-mechanical pump with associated controls and magnetically levitated motor, implanted in the pericardial space, providing support to the patient suffering from an end-stage heart failure. The project involves detailed design and development of a novel impeller connected to a contactless motor, with surface characteristics that ensure improved blood compatibility and minimal damage.
