Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Diseases Research
Research focus:
The CoE for Cardiovascular and pulmonary research will focus on creating a comprehensive computational and experimental framework unifying appropriate MRI methods, image analysis, model building and visualization algorithms, and simulation techniques based on computational mechanics. It aims to provide a highly efficient tool for the clinicians in disease diagnosis and in assessing its progression thereby to arrive at a personalized therapeutical measure. The CoE also aims to come with low-cost medical support devices like LVAD, IV-LITHOTRIPSY, Heart Valves, Pacemakers etc., to meet the need of economically poor countries.
Possible outcomes:
- Technology Development
- LVAD
- Intra Vascular-Lithotripsy
- Heart Valves
- Patient specific CVD studies for surgical planning
- Research: Fundamental research studies – reports, papers, newsletters etc.
- Clinically effective MRI based evaluation of lung disorders i.e. chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis of children and lung cancer prognosis
Post-doc openings:
Development of percutaneous mechanical circulatory support devices
Design and development of inhaler based on COPD patient CT/MR and inhalation data for assessment of drug deposition and airflow dynamics
